Hot Dogs

When I was at Manhattanville College studying Art History, I had a part-time job driving the daughters of art collector and gallery owner, Allan Stone, to school every morning. One morning, I had the good fortune to meet the artist Wayne Thiebaud in the kitchen of their house. Mr. Stone, always kind to me, introduced me to Mr Thiebaud, whose work we were recently studying in Contemporary American Art class.

Yesterday, Labor Day, I thought of Thiebaud as I grilled hot dogs for lunch.

 Do you like hot dogs?

  1. The Stone Gallery: The only New York gallery I have ever submitted my portfolio to (just a few years ago). It took them a long time to return my portfolio. by the time i got the rejection, i had forgotten all about it and was so busy doing other stuff, that i barely felt the sting of rejection.

i brought my portfolio to them because they were at the top of my list and i carried the most angst/uncertainty. so i decided to just start at the top and get it over with.

    nice blog, nice post.

btw: looked for you on the arts map...i know there are a lot of artists out that way, but only have a dozen show up on the map.
