Tomato, Lettuce, Lemonade & Fine Art Photography Stand

James Underwood Crockett, writing in "Crockett's Victory Garden: "Sometimes the vines of caged tomatoes will grow right up over the top of the cages in July, which means too much of the plants' energy is going into the foliage and not enough into the fruit. I follow the lead of commercial growers and cut back any of the tall stems that overstep the bounds of the cage" I have three plants caged and staked and three simply staked. And yesterday, I did cut the tops off and I was a bit sad as there was fruit on the top. In fact, I have so many tomatoes (6 different varieties) about to ripen I just might open a "Tomato, Lettuce, Lemonade, and Fine Art Photography Stand!!!

Indoor Gardening

Yes, it is hot here in New England.
I don't really mind the heat.
But it was rather uncomfortable
to garden.
So I watched
my garden from my study window:

Later in the day
I did spend time in the garden
and the birds did too
enjoying the sprinkler:

And you?
I would love to hear from you!

Some Things About Friday

~

Susan got new sunglasses:

We came home and I enlarged and edged the garden
so I can build a brick edge around it:

Later, Susan and I relaxed
with a few glasses of Pinot Noir
and Pizza
a roasted red pepper,
Vidalia onion,
artichoke,
jalapeno pepper
(from my garden)
and red potato
(the potatoes from a potato salad I made;
a simple salad of the potatoes,
oregano and apple mint from my garden
lemon juice and almond oil):

Being and Being Bruce

Last night,
Thursday night,
Susan and I sat in our backyard

I wish you would visit;
I would give you some lettuce--
I have so much and soon
many tomatoes
